Wilson Avenue Closed as Train Warning Upgrades Delayed
The City of Bend said Wilson Avenue is closed between SE Centennial Street and SE 9th Street. The closure comes after Burlington Northern Santa-Fe (BNSF) Railway experienced a delay in getting to a project to make critical upgrades to warning signals and gate arms.
Because of the delay, the city said the crossing is not safe to enter right now, noting that the signals and gate arms are out of service.
For safety, the city directed people to use the posted detours and stay out of the closure area, including sidewalks.
The city said the project is on schedule and the closure is expected to last through early July. It said it will share updates as soon as they are available.
Updates were posted at bendoregon.gov/wilson.
