**Jacksonville Woman Arrested for Manslaughter in Stabbing Case**

Ms’Tayari Chaka Cohen, a 21-year-old woman, has been arrested for manslaughter in connection with a stabbing incident that occurred in Jacksonville. The incident took place on September 5, 2022, in the 5900 block of Normandy Boulevard.

The victim, 18-year-old Laniya Frederick, was stabbed and later transported to a local hospital. Despite undergoing surgery, she succumbed to her injuries and was declared deceased on September 10, 2022.

Following the incident, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office Homicide Unit, Crime Scene Unit, and the State Attorney's Office began an investigation. After a lengthy investigation that involved witness cooperation and gathering relevant information, Ms’Tayari Chaka Cohen was identified as a suspect.

An arrest warrant for manslaughter was issued for Cohen on July 24, 2024. She was located and taken into custody by the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office Criminal Apprehension Unit on November 3, 2024.
