Mrs. Maria Gordineer was honored by the City of Peekskill on Monday night during the city's celebrations for National Hispanic Heritage Month.

Mrs. Gordineer has been with the Peekskill City School District since 2005, holding various positions including teacher’s aide at Woodside Elementary School and Peekskill High School. Currently, she serves as the College Advisor and Teacher’s Assistant, where she helps other Student Services support staff in delivering guidance and curriculum activities for students.

One of her significant responsibilities includes providing information and guidance to students and their parents regarding financial aid and scholarships for post-graduation educational or vocational opportunities. Additionally, Mrs. Gordineer has contributed to the My Brother’s Keeper Program, which supports young men of color, by mentoring program participants and monitoring their progress.

Since 2008, she has been involved with the Peekskill Recreation Department’s Summer Camp program as the Director of Transportation and Registration, demonstrating her commitment to the Peekskill community and its youth.
