Peekskill Honors Residents for Italian American Heritage

At a recent City Council meeting, several residents of Peekskill, New York were honored as part of the 2024 Italian American Heritage Month. The honorees are Joann Boniello, David Carbone, Doug Ferony, Sophia Ferony, John Isabella Jr., Rocco Picciano Jr., and Carlo Vidrini.
Joann Boniello, a lifelong Peekskill resident, works as a registered nurse at New York Presbyterian Hudson Valley Hospital. She has held leadership positions in the Hillcrest Home School Association and has contributed to local organizations including the Lapolla Little League and the Peekskill Community Garden.
David Carbone is also a lifelong resident of Peekskill. He manages a Facebook group called Peekskill Today, where he shares photographs, videos, and news items related to the community. He is also involved in efforts to keep the Hudson River clean.
Doug Ferony grew up in Peekskill and has a background in acting and singing, having appeared in notable productions such as Goodfellas and The Sopranos. He is also the founder of the Doug Ferony Show Band, which performs at various local events.
Sophia Ferony owns the Fuhgeddaboutit Deli Bagel Grill, established in 2017. She actively participates in community involvement, sponsorships, and fundraising efforts through her business.
John Isabella Jr. has served the City of Peekskill in multiple roles, including as a camp counselor and lifeguard in the Parks and Recreation Department. He has a long history of service, both as a Democratic District Leader and a member of the Peekskill Volunteer Fire Department for over 40 years.
Rocco Picciano Jr. has worked in his family's business, which has been a fixture in Peekskill for 82 years. He remains engaged in community service through the Peekskill Fire Patrol and other local initiatives.
Carlo Vidrini is a robotics teacher in the Peekskill City School District and has made significant contributions to the robotics program at Peekskill High School. His students have achieved success in regional competitions, including a notable award in 2018.
The City of Peekskill congratulates these individuals for their contributions to the community.
