October Workshops Support Families at Resource Center

Staff Report / Peekskillocal.org

The Family Resource Center is offering several workshops in October aimed at supporting families in the community.

The "Raising A Reader" workshop will take place on Wednesdays, October 9th and 23rd from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM. This program is designed to help families develop literacy skills and foster a love for reading in children ages 0-3.

English as a Second Language (ESL) classes are scheduled for Tuesdays and Thursdays, including October 8, 10, 15, 17, 22, 24, 29, and 31, running from 9:30 AM to noon. The classes are open to anyone looking to improve their English skills.

Additionally, a Special Education PTO (SEPTO) meeting will be held on Wednesday, October 16th, from 6:30 PM to 7:30 PM. This virtual meeting will allow parents of children with special needs to connect with other parents, learn advocacy skills, and access information on available resources. For more information, interested parties can contact septo@peekskillschools.org.

Support is also available for assistance applications, helping families navigate the application process.
