Long Beach Fire Department responds to high Carbon Monoxide levels.

The Long Beach Fire Department responded to a Carbon Monoxide alarm on Lindell Blvd. today at 12:00 noon. Engine 2343 and Ambulance 2319 found extremely high levels of Carbon Monoxide in the house. Additional units were called in as a General Alarm.
Engine 2344, Ladder 2362, Ladder 2372, and Command Post 234 arrived with Assistant Chiefs Marino and Babich. The house was ventilated by opening windows and using fans. The cause was a gasoline powered pressure washer being used in the basement by a contractor.
The contractor was taken to Nassau University Medical Center by Ambulance 2319 for Carbon Monoxide Poisoning. Long Beach Building Department and National Grid also responded.
All units were finished within 2 hours under the command of Assistant Chief John Marino. Having working Carbon Monoxide Alarms and Smoke Detectors can save lives, as demonstrated today.
