Long Beach NY Northshore Critical Infrastructure Project Update

Reviewed by Todd Vandersline / LBNYlocal.org

City Council President Brendan Finn, Vice President Chris Fiumara, and City Manager Daniel Creighton visited the Northshore Critical Infrastructure Project at Reynolds Channel Waterfront between Monroe Blvd and National Blvd in Long Beach, New York. The $39 million project aims to build a 2700-foot steel bulkhead to stabilize the shoreline and protect the City’s north shore using FEMA's Hazard Mitigation Program funding. Additionally, the project includes a stormwater pump station, replacement of City utilities, a deployable barrier for flood prevention at the LIRR tracks and boat ramp, and a new asphalt composite road on Water Street. Updates on the project will be provided as work continues.
